ASC Students To Exhibit Work

ASC Students To Exhibit WorkAntigua St John's - Art students at the Antigua State College will be showcasing new works at the Studio One Art Gallery.

This year’s show, entitled REHAB, will begin with a preview on Thursday, November 3 at 5 pm, and will be open to the public from Friday, November 4 until November 18. The gallery hours are Monday to Friday, 10 am to 4 pm.

Curator of the exhibition and art tutor Mark Brown explained the rational for this year’s title.

He said, “We wanted to celebrate our country’s 30th anniversary of independence, as well as acknowledge our heritage, our journey from being captured to owning our destiny to moving forward. The students were challenged to produce works of art in response to this and we will have a range of media on display.”

Brown added that as well as showcasing the work, the REHAB exhibition is also a fundraiser for the 2012 New York Art Tour.

“We took our first group of students this year and spent 10 days exploring art galleries in New York," he said. "It was a very successful trip, and we decided to take another group of students next Easter. We are asking all patrons to make a minimal donation of $10."

Studio One Art Gallery opened its doors last year, and is located in the art department of the Antigua State College.
