Hillhouse, whose novel ‘Oh Gad’ has been receiving rave reviews is, said she is honoured to be invited.

“It’s always an honour to be invited to festivals especially one in the Caribbean that will feature luminaries as George Lamming and Elizabeth Nunez.

“Most writers work in isolation, so it is always good to meet up with other writers, exchange ideas and discuss our craft,” she said, adding that such events are inspiring for both the established and unpublished writer.

The Nature Isle Literary Festival and Book Fair began Thursday, but the opening ceremony which features Professor George Lamming as guest speaker, takes place on Friday, August 10. There will then be two days of workshops, panel discussions and readings.

Hillhouse has had a very busy schedule since the Antiguan launch of Oh Gad, including a book release event organised by the Friends of Antigua Public Library in New York; presented at the Association of Caribbean Women Writers and Scholars’ 13th annual conference in Suriname; and read from the book at Brown University where she was a participant at the Texas A & M’s Callaloo Writers conference.
