Young poets have another week to sign up for the newly formed Young Poet’s Society of Antigua & Barbuda (YoPoSAB). A release issued yesterday said the deadline has been extended to Thursday October 7.
Registration forms can be picked up, filled out and returned to either branch of Best of Books.
YoPoSAB is an August Rush Productions initiative being undertaken in collaboration with The Literary Arts Partnership at the University of Central Florida (UCF). The UCF programme, Writing Across Waves, is also being established in St Kitts.
YoPoSAB registration charge is $5 with a monthly fee of $10, or $25 per term; this amount is payable at the society’s first meeting.
Sessions will be held on the first three Saturdays of each month. YoPoSAB will break during school vacation, and resume at the beginning of each school term.
Members will be taught to better express themselves through poetry as they utilise music and theater, and will receive valuable help from the YoPoSAB facilitators on how to improve their writing skills and public speaking. All members will be paired up with a UCF Creative Writing student, who will assist in their development; there are only 30 spots available.
