Cell Tower Report Still Under Wraps

Cell Tower Report Still Under WrapsAntigua St John's - In the summer of 2011, Caribarena began raising questions about the number of cell phone towers in Antigua & Barbuda.

There seemed to be a disproportionately large number of towers, many of them also called “base-stations,” located near homes, schools, and businesses.

Whether or not the radiation from these towers is capable of inflicting physical or biological harm upon those nearby on a daily basis is still unclear.

The global scientific community has been tossing and turning, with groups and organisations pushing for both sides of the battle.

It was Caribarena’s conclusion that while uncertainty is still in the air, it was far better to pursue the more cautious approach than to assume that the towers are harmless. Caribarena’s drive for the issue resulted in a study, conducted by George Skvarca of PAHO.

Skvarca measured the radiation emitted by select towers only over a few days. The preliminary results of his brief study were broadcast live on ABS TV.

During the press conference, Caribarena asked Skvarca a lot of questions. The complete conference can be watched on Caribarena’s YouTube channel.

However, the press conference’s most important function was the release of Skvarca’s study.

Skvarca said he needed a week to prepare the study, which would then be sent to the Government of Antigua & Barbuda.

Caribarena was told that once Cabinet reviewed the report, it would be released to the public.

Officer of the Telecommunications Division Clement Samuel assured Caribarena he would see to it that Caribarena was sent the report ASAP.

The press conference was held on August 22.

The report created by Skvarca has not been released.

Caribarena sent two e-mails to Samuel and Minister of Telecommunications Dr Edmond Mansoor, requesting the release of the report.

The first was sent on January 3, and the second was on January 16.

Today, a month has passed since our last attempt to contact the government, and we are yet to receive any response.

Notes From A Native Son Of The Rock. Apologies to Caribarena for suggesting that you may have dropped the ball in "Please Help Us - Have Mercy Pon Us." Quote:
Notes From A Native Son Of The Rock. A very impressive CV and for this my Kudos to the Good and Worthy Dr.Merle Lewis on her recent Appointment.
Can someone advise when whe visited with the Good Hon. Dr. PM, Senior Staff and Other Officials. I checked the GOAB's website and could not find the Answer. This is Amazing. It appears that a golden opportunity was missed to present Caribarena's Cell Tower Report & to request her assistance in obtaining information from the Cell Tower Report which was submitted to the GOAB on September 02, 2011.

Blue Transparency & Accountability - A Dream Deferred PT1

Notes From A Native Son Of The Rock. Quote:
What happens to a dream deferred? Does it dry up like a raisin in the sun? Or fester like a sore-- And then run? Does it stink like rotten meat? Or crust and sugar over-- like a syrupy sweet? Maybe it just sags like a heavy load. Or does it explode?
Tenman & Skyewill, my apolgies. I sincerely gave GOAB the benefit of the doubt: Quote:
Tenman, may I suggest that we give the Government the Opportunity, since they commissioned the study by the World Health Organisation/Pan American Health Organisation, to review and react to any recommendations which the consultant would have suggested. It is highly unlikely that they will be able to suppress and hide the results. On the Contrary, given what has been said so far, they will be trumpeting the findings.

They did not say the study was done by the World Health Organization/Pan American Health Organization. They said a man who is a member or janitor...LMAO...some thing fuzzy deh to me

Help

#5 tenman » 2012-02-14 12:07

Help you asked a very good question. I myself speaking to persons, found it shocking that everyone I talked to had at least one family member in Antigua who had experienced cancer. Sadly, it seems no offcial is really making note of this. The cancer center we are told since at least 3 years ago, will be opening at the end of the year (reminds me of the Cedar Grove new Clinic)

I can't fail to acknowledge the alarm rate of Cancer in Antigua. According to One Doc, It has come where everyone in Antigua know someone with Cancer. Could it be part of the towers Radiation?

Why do we have a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) if our leaders seem to do as they please by ignoring requests? It is rather ridiculous how these officials act as if they are not accountable to anyone.
