Funeral for Freeland Next Thursday

Sir Adolphus FreelandAntigua St. John's - Sir Adolphus Freeland, the former parliamentarian, minister of Labour, and trade unionist, will be laid to rest on Thursday January 30.

A release from the head of the planning committee, Dr Jacqui Quinn-Leandro, said a service of thanksgiving will be held at the Spring Gardens Moravian Church at 1pm.

Before the service, his body will lie in repose at the Antigua Trades and Labour Union headquarters at 46 North Street from 10:30 am to 12:15 pm.

Tributes will be presented by the prime minister, the leader of the opposition, the AT&LU; St George’s choir; the family; Gemonites Steel Orchestra, and others.

Sir Adolphus will be interred at the Floretta Gardens Cemetery in Potters Village, where he will be accorded a three-volley gun salute.

Students from the six schools (Pigotts, Potters, New Winthorpes, Sunnyside, TOR Memorial and AE Goodwin Faith & Hope) in St George will line the Potters main road as Sir Adolphus’ cortege passes through the village.
