Filthy Roads Not Fit for People

Cashew HillDear Editor, It is ridiculous the way the people of Date Palm Road in Cashew Hill have to live.

If you walk, you can't get in. If you drive, your car can't keep clean. It’s ridiculous.

There is no proper drainage for water to run. If there is a lot of rain, yards are being flooded and the smell is deplorable.

It’s a health issue, since kids live on that street, and people with allergies live there too.

These conditions are not fit for any human being to live through.

Who takes care of this problem?

Date Palm Road in Cashew Hill was once a road. Now it looks like a swamp. I cannot believe with all of those so called smart persons in Government. They could not come up with a plan to fix this road with a finished gutter. All members of parliament form the Government. They are all responsible for this mess. The home owners need to go and picket the Ministry of Public Works to get their message across.Where there is a will. There is a way. I cannot believe that those pictures are of roads in Antigua in 2014.

We need to be running the government because our leaders do not have any clues or a simple vision. Just a bunch of wakie talkies. They are still following the notes left by the colonialist and Papa Bird. Look at little Japan, they know more about Redonda than our government. Do you notice that they are more interested in Redonda more than Bird, Baldwin and Gaston? You better check the records to see if its not already owned by China to pay back all them loans. I am getting worried already and able to lol at the same time. If Redonda is not already given away let's get smart and take out a loan and purchase it. I think your dreams can come true and we will be very rotten indeed.

You got it...Dream...researc h...analyze, critically of course...research... analyze, again...justify...me ans and methods...production , once feasible.
A team has several positions, played by different players of varying skill and mindset, however the goal and final analysis is to be victorious when the final whistle blows. We are on the same team, called Our Nation.

Lets go and fix WPP and CANT PARK first

#12 smart guy » 2014-01-29 06:52

What I said earlier is that I believe in fixing what we have already so fix all the roads, WPP, CAR PARK etc. Open the car park and you will receive cash like the lottery or INTERNET gaming instantly. BTW you will need this smart guy and his computer to run some soil and dept analysis to collect Redonda samples to let you know if what you dreamt is really fact on Redonda before flattening a plateau and all you find is fools gold. Smart guy will let you go there with all your tools and whenever you struck oil call me to fund the drilling and marketing of our wealth etc. You've got the spirit but let's do the research.

...A visionary cares nothing of the monies required, for tomorrow will be yesterdays pay day...
Our Nation needs visionary's who knows, that every billion miles to be travelled, begins with taking the first step and the strength of a structure is determined by the footing upon which it stands...We need to get rid of those who sells Us a castle built on the high tide mark of a beach and made of sand and water...what happens during high tide?

There are significant differences between myself and those Politicians on the Island of Antigua...
1...I am not an Attorney who gets paid whether a case is won or lost. I am humble carpenter who considers, that tools in my hands are extensions of my thought processes, and use them take a project from the NTP-Notice to Proceed to the final walk thru; and, an OP-Occupancy Permit can be obtained after thorough and proper inspection at every phase of the project.
2...I don't want to get paid to be of service to those less fortunate. I have already seen the hand of my maker in Zion, and no amount of Earthly riches will derail my Soul from that permanent resting place.
3...I've been blessed with many things. The minute I fall asleep, dreams and visions come to me. I can plant enough food to feed a Village. I am not the most likeable person in some instances, because I call a spade a spade...Pretense is a fool's diamond.
The land of my birth owes me nothing, I owe it everything...hammers , saws, laser plum bobs, bobcat levers, backhoe levers are some of what I come with to build a Nation, not a pen and or qwerty-board to embezzle...

Sorry for my ignorance. I like you plans. I am with you. However, your plans sound the same as those politicians on the mainland of ANU. Lots of words but you will still need lots of money to do these thing on a volcanic rock.

By getting Smart, guy, I would say to him and others, give Jumbee Picknee Redonda on one of those 99 year leases which many developers have procured, from Our Government from time to time, and this, is what I would do with Redonda.
a...the approx. 5.3 square miles of volcanic rock, would be mined in such away, so as to create a large enough plateau, to place a living Community for huemans.
b...the first set of workers, would incorporate a sizeable population of the prison system; the phasing in of the prison population to their new home, away from home.
c...the rock as it is mined, would produce aggregates; crush stone, cement etc. to assist with the proper and structurally building of; sound sidewalks, curbs, drainage systems, swale ditches to accommodate solid roads systems in Communities on Antigua and or Barbuda.
d...several years into the mining process, and several years into the Deep Sea Fishing Tournament, several years into the Aqua farming, Redonda would have given Our Nation more than it, Redonda could possibly use have received....

Redonda is not about roads directly; it's a vital, pertinent, essential, integral part of the Nations 150 year/One Hundred and fifty year planning for prosperous economical development.
Redonda give the Nation its nautical miles to make up the huge geographical boundary which we are in control of; similar, to the land upon which you walk, build homes, offices etc.
If you took time out to read a recent article by Leonart Matthias, you would be educated on some of the facts, regarding a trillion dollar industry, called AQUACULTURE/AQUAFARM ING...The Japanese/Asians/Chin ese are very much aware of the abundance of natural resources which the sea has, and have been putting them to productive uses for generations...seawee d to pearls.
REDONDA gives the Nation, economic powers which have been ignored for decades.
If it is not so, ask the fishermen from Martinique, Guadeloupe and of course the Japanese Trawling fleets.
STOP been blinded by infectious negative reasoning....

@ Time to pay & Speed Bump

#6 skyewill » 2014-01-26 09:10

@ Time to pay - You are brilliant in many places prisoners including the USA do hard labor to include highway cleaning. @ Speed bump - I see your point and in many cases you are correct about what the politician will do with the Tax money but let us be responsible and stop all that. Corruption must stop, it kills economies. But you are right we pay taxes and it is the government responsibility to fix this. But it is our responsibility to fix the government by voting and letting them know we are not pleased and remove them and keep removing them until we get people whose focus is the country. We know current situation is CHIT so let's do something else. Send a strong message.

We can't even fix the roads in Antigua and Barbuda so where is the revenue to add the burden to take on Redonda? When Antigua and Barbuda fixed till we can't fix no more then perhaps we will consider Redonda. When corruption and laziness cease then..Redonda etc...

"Put the people who are in Jail to do day work programs fixing pot holes... ! Let them work on cleaning up Antigua.

This is pure ra$$ishnes you chatting. This is a tax paying nation. Regular should be paid a wage to fix the road. This is same money what will help the economy strive. You put the jail men to work for free and the politicians use the money for their overseas vacation and medical expenses. This is what you call ripping off the economy.

Infrastructure....

#3 Jumbee Picknee » 2014-01-25 16:18

During a recent conversation with Mac Emanuel, I enquired of the development plans regarding Our Nation - REDONDA, Barbuda & Antigua. As, a part of his response, he informed me that, "there are, have been many development plans regarding Our Nation, they're collecting dust in some warehouse;" I will add, 'after, they've been solicited, approved and paid for by Our Government, both present and past.'
One of the issue's with proper infrastructural development within the Nation, is NOT lack of idea's, but lack of proper oversight from the NTP(Notice to Proceed) to OP (Occupancy Permit).
We are not by any means idiots, we're just psychologically challenged in producing quality, for Our entire Nation, through and by the indoctrination of the Separation Theory. We have to reverse this mindset and produce quality which will and should benefit all. It's the ONLY way forward, again, the ONLY way forward, whilst we leave a prosperous trail and footprints for others to emulate.
Our trained and licensed Engineers, Surveyors, Tradespersons need to be out front on the revitalization of certain, and notice the word 'certain' sections of Our Nation. INFRASTRUCTURE IS FOR EVERYONE....
