Moravians Bid Farewell

Moravians Bid FarewellAntigua St. John's - The congregations of Cana Moravian Church, Swetes Village, and Gracehill Moravian Church, Liberta Village, will join together for a special appreciation and farewell service for Rev Adrian Smith and his wife, Andrea.

The service will take place at the Gracehill Moravian Church on Sunday, July 14, from 4 pm. It will be held in recognition of God’s goodness to both congregations and to wish the Smiths God’s richest blessings as they relocate to Barbados for a new assignment.

Pastor Smith was assigned as the minister-in-charge of Cana for 11 years and jointly with Gracehill for the last five years. When asked to reflect on those years, the Gracehill Board of Stewards chairperson, Sister Denise Limerick, said, “Pastor Smith’s leadership has influenced in a significant way, the life and growth of the church, its members and many within our community. For this, we give God thanks and praise.”

A special invitation was extended to all Moravian brothers and sisters, and by extension to the general public, to join the members of the two congregations as they make this farewell service an awesome expression of gratitude.

II have had the privilege of working with Rev Smith in the capacity of Chairperson of the Board of Stewart and Fund Raising Committee. During my tenure serving on the boards, Rev. Smith was a pleasure to work with as he always had an open mind providing guidance. He always challenged us that we had the potential to meet our goals as God is in control.
Additionally, I worked with Mrs. Smith as leaders of the Girl Guides group at Cana Moravian. We spent our Sunday afternoon developing the girls and teaching them new skills. As they move forward, It is my pray that they will take with them the many memories of a church community who love them as family. Their work in the Antigua Conference may have come to an end but the memories of their service will always be remembered. I encourage them to remain focus on their goals and mission as they prepare for their new assignment. On behalf of my daughter and I we say THANK YOU for all they have done for us throughout the years. May God go with them as they return home spreading the word of God? With technology we will all stay connected. May God continue to bless them richly?

I have had the pleasure of visiting your churches and have always really enjoyed your sermons a lot. I believe you are one of those preachers who was anointed by God because of the passionate way in which you serve the Lord. I know that there are great things in store for you. Hope your memories of Antigua will be good ones. As is said in many churches on many occasions, Go in peace in the name of the Lord.

It has been a joy knowing this man of God. As Presidents, Prime Ministers and government leaders deploy ambassadors, so God calls His ambassadors to serve in different part of His vinyard. To your Pastor Smith, the call has now come to serve Him in another place. Go forward and continue to be an ambassador for the King of Kings; the greates calling that any human could receive. May God continue to richly bless you and your family.
