Church of God Celebrates 40th Year

Church of God celebratesAntigua St John's - The Church of God of Prophecy at Cooks Hill is celebrating its 40th year. The congregation, organised at lower Nevis Street in April 1971, originally worshipped at several locations in St John's before acquiring land in Cooks Hill.

A highlight of the celebrations is the Easter Sunday worship service beginning at 9 am, during which there will be a review of the congregation's history.

Other activities during the celebrations include a crusade with Pastor Alister Jackson of the Lion of Judah Wesleyan Holiness congregation, a community outreach, as well as a prayer walk where members of congregation were  joined by other Christians in the community, and prayed at the major entrances to the Grays Green community.

Still to come are a Street Fair and Beach Picnic, with an awards dinner as the grand finale. The theme of the celebrations is, "Hitherto hath the Lord helped us” Samuel 15:7.

Bishop Dorsett, pastor of the congregation, invited everyone to join in this celebration, which will conclude in May.

The Church of God of Prophecy is organised in more than 120 countries, with 1.5 million members. Its membership has tripled during the past 25 years. There are eight congregations in Antigua, two of which are Spanish-speaking.
