New Bishop for St John's Basseterre

Msgr.-Kenneth-David-Oswin-RichardsAntigua St John's - The Episcopal ordination of Msgr Kenneth Richards will take place on Wednesday February 8 at 4 pm at the Holy Family Cathedral. 

The Principal Consecrating Archbishop will be Archbishop Donald Reece, and concelebrating bishops will be Archbishop Robert Rivas and Bishop Gabriel Malzaire.

Archbishop Charles Dufour will deliver the homily. Msgr Richards will be assisted by Frs George Williams and Howard Thompson. 

A special Mass of welcome and thanksgiving for the ordination of Bishop Richards will take place in Basseterre St Kitts on February 9 at 6 pm,  the day after the St John’s ordination.

The Holy Father appointed Richards, vicar general of Kingston in Jamaica, as bishop of Saint John’s-Basseterre (area 1,058, population 169,787, Catholics 14,878, priests 9, religious 7), Antigua & Barbuda on November 19, 2011.

The bishop-elect was born in Linstead, Jamaica in 1958, and ordained a priest in 1985. He has worked in the archdiocese of Kingston in Jamaica as parish vicar, pastor, director for vocations and president of the presbyteral council.
