Robert Peters Two-Stage Race

Robert Peters Two-Stage RaceAntigua St. John's - Frank B Armstrong, agents for Lucozade and the Antigua and Barbuda Cycling Association, is continuing the legacy of one of Antigua’s best road cyclist of all times by hosting an annual race in his name, the Robert Peters Race Day - Two-Stage Race.

The annual event is scheduled for Sunday May 25 with the first stage scheduled to start at 8 am at Horsford Hill in Falmouth and go for a straight three-mile dash to the top of Shirley Heights. Last year’s winning time came from Robert Marsh, who clocked 11:47 to win the stage, but did not meet the course record time of 10:58 set by Jyme Bridges in 2012.

The second stage will take place the same afternoon, starting at 2:30 pm on the roads surrounding the Pam AM Base in Coolidge. The top riders will compete over 30 laps, B-Class 25, Junior 20, and Females and Beginners 10.

The two-stage event will be based on a points system rather than the usual time system, with bonus points set at certain points of the race as preem points. Last year’s overall winner was Neil Lloyd with Omari King winning the 2nd Stage.

The race is sponsored by Lucozade.
